Citadel High School

The winner of an architectural design competition, Citadel High School occupies one of the most significant sites on the peninsula of Halifax at the foot of historic Citadel Hill. The school shares multiple spaces with the community including two gyms, multipurpose rooms, and an 800-seat theatre. The design ensures that these programs can be accommodated at different times of day. The project was designed using district heat from the adjacent QEII Health Science complex as the source of heating and exposed structural steel in the classrooms through a performance-based code solution.
